TypeSearch is a discovery and research tool for historical type specimens. It indexes and links to materials held in publicly accessible archives and libraries, including the Letter Library, the Internet Archive, the Letterform Archive Online, and other open repositories. TypeSearch does not host, reproduce, or distribute any specimen files. All materials remain at their original sources, and all links direct users to those sources.
TypeSearch was built with the assistance of AI tools, including Manus, an autonomous AI agent. AI assistance was used in the development of the software, the organisation of metadata, and the design of the user interface. All editorial decisions, data sourcing, and content curation remain the responsibility of the TypeSearch team. We are committed to transparency about our use of AI tools and will continue to disclose this as the platform evolves.
TypeSearch operates as an index and discovery layer. We do not claim ownership of any materials referenced on this platform. Thumbnail images and metadata displayed on TypeSearch are sourced from publicly accessible repositories and are used for identification and research purposes only, consistent with fair use principles under applicable copyright law.
Many of the type specimens in our index are historical works whose copyright status is uncertain or whose rights holders are unknown. We have made good-faith efforts to link only to materials that are publicly accessible through established archival institutions. If you believe a work in our index is protected by copyright and its inclusion here is not appropriate, please contact us and we will address your concern promptly.
TypeSearch is built in good faith as a resource for researchers, designers, and historians. We respect the rights of creators, institutions, and rights holders. If you are a rights holder, representative of a rights holder, or an institution that holds materials referenced on TypeSearch, and you believe that any listing should be removed or modified, we welcome your contact.

We will respond to all legitimate requests within a reasonable timeframe and will remove or modify listings as appropriate. Our goal is to be a respectful and responsible member of the typographic research community.
TypeSearch makes no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the metadata displayed on this platform. Metadata has been compiled from publicly available sources and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Users are encouraged to verify information at the original source before relying on it for research or publication purposes. TypeSearch is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.
